As the new S1s adapt to life at secondary school and continue to learn about effectively building friendships, there is bound to be an occasional fall out. Please contact Mr Houston directly sooner rather than later if this is the case, as it makes it much easier to fix. We want to ensure everyone in the team has a happy time at Grange, and particularly with S1s, pupils sometimes need guidance to help them form good relationships, feel included and be respectful to each other.

Over the last 8 years, we have grown Grange Rugby to include 6 teams and "Schools of Rugby" in S1, S2 and S3. Our aim is to promote a positive ethos and help pupils develop the Values associated with the sport, namely Respect, Leadership, Achievement, Engagement, and Enjoyment.
We are delighted with the success of our club - we have players at district and even international level, but more importantly, we seen hundreds of youngsters gain confidence while improving their fitness, their inter-personal skills their team-working and leadership skills.
We have teams for;-
P6+7 boys and girls,
Many of our pupils have become qualified as Rugby coaches, completing "Rugby Ready" training, "Youth Coaching Courses", and "Positive Coaching Scotland". Some have also gained Junior Sports Leadership or Community Sports Leadership Awards. These opportunities helps our youngsters build many of the skills and qualities that Further Education and Employers find attractive, such as leadership, communication and organisational skills etc.
Everyone is welcome:
We have inclusive teams which welcome pupils with additional support needs from Park School, and from other schools which do not offer Rugby.
It's never too late to start playing - recruitment never ends!
We always need to do fundraising and help with this is very welcome for players and non players.
We have strong links with Kilmarnock Rugby Club and our aim is to become a more community based club.
We also include parents and carers in many of our trips and their involvement, help and support is always greatly appreciated.
School of Rugby (S1-S3)
This is a programme designed to help our pupils engage with our school, develop their skills and values and improve their health and well-being. We focus on skills, fitness, team-building activities, health & nutrition and strength & conditioning. Pupils in S3 start to gain coaching qualifications too.
As part of the programme, behaviour and effort is tracked across the school and high standards are demanded for pupils to stay involved. The programme begins in S1 and p7 pupils are invited to apply for the programme and take part in trials in May and June. You can see the benefits of School of Rugby here.
Grange Rugby is run by a committee of Pupils and Staff. Part of their job is to help finance Grange Rugby through fundraising. We have sponsorship packages available and are delighted when local businesses and organisations can help us financially and endeavour to return good PR for our sponsors.
